Joseph Wagner has over 25 years of experience teaching technicians the skills they need to be successful in the shop. Prior to teaching full time, he worked as a Volkswagen Master Technician and a Chevrolet Master Technician, as well as a shop foreman, service writer, parts consultant, and assistant manager. He has an AAS in Automotive Service Technology from Joliet Junior College, a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Governors State University, and a Masters of Education specializing in CTE from Concordia University. He is a member of the Mobile Air Conditioning Society, North American Council of Automotive Teachers, and the Illinois College Automotive Instructors Association. He lives south of Chicago with his wife and children. Kirk T. VanGelder is a Certified Automotive Technology Instructor at Cascadia Technical Academy, in Vancouver, Washington. With over 30 years of teaching experience at the high school and college level, Kirk encourages students to think critically, learn how to ask questions of themselves, and then search out the answers. In addition to Fundamentals of Automotive Technology: Principles and Practice, he is the author of Fundamentals of Maintenance and Light Repair. He is passionate about helping students understand the science behind automotive technology so that they can continuously embrace emerging systems and technologies in the quickly changing automotive industry.
