The book covers the current and future technologies that are poised to change the way telecommunication networks are designed and deployed, such as reality technologies, Time-division multiplexing (TDM), 5G Wireless Broadband ecosystem, IoT, Cloud Infrastructure, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN). It's also unique in its presentation of the architecture of the photonic circuit switched as well as packet switched networks. Each concept is reinforced with case studies and illustrations which will provide readers with the necessary knowledge to design, deploy and troubleshoot photonic networks.
While the new generation of readers may grasp the conceptual framework fairly quickly without being bogged down by the past, the book also provides a historical perspective in order to properly understand and appreciate the current technologies as well as aid the integration of the old with the new.
