La notation de l’état corporel (en anglais Body Condition Scoring, BCS) permet d’estimer les réserves énergétiques d’une vache laitière. On l’obtient en observant et en tâtant la couche de gras à certains endroits du corps. La méthode présentée ici sert à déterminer régulièrement, de façon simple et rapide, l’état nutritionnel de l’animal. Il s’agit d’un bon outil d’aide à la gestion : les erreurs d’alimentation portant sur un individu sont repérées et corrigées à temps.
