This book provides practicing engineers with detailed design procedures and reference material on what is now widely regarded as an economic, structurally sound and versatile form of construction for multi-storey buildings. This revised and updated edition features a new chapter on the design of Panel Structures, including the concepts of crosswall construction and volumetric construction. It also offers design examples to the new Eurocodes, using their British National Application Documents, along with numerous worked examples drawn from industry, as well as design charts, and tables.

Kim Elliott, BTech, PhD, CEng, MICE, is Senior Lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering at Nottingham University, and was formerly employed at Trent Concrete Ltd where he was engaged in precast design, manufacture and construction. Since 1987 Dr Elliott has researched on precast structures, and has published more than 50 papers on this work. He co-authored the BCA publication Precast Concrete Framed Buildings. He has presented seminars on precast construction in 12 countries, including Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, and the UK. Dr Elliott is a member of FIB commission on Prefabrication, and Chairman of COST C1 Action on Concrete Structures.
