This key text introduces readers to the underlying knowledge and wider features of inclusion and how they can relate to practice. Taking inclusion as referring to all learners, this new edition explores inclusive practice in its broadest sense and implementation in a variety of educational sectors.

Each chapter assesses key theories and concepts along with a range of examples to encourage students to think critically and to reappraise their own experience as learners. The fully updated second edition builds on the strengths of the previous book and considers the changes in social, geographical, historical and cultural contexts over the past decade that influence inclusive education. New topics include:

Inclusive education in Indonesia, Norway and Ukraine,
Working with parents, carers and children for practical implementation,
Specialist provision, and special schools, and how they fit with inclusive education.

Illustrated with tasks, case studies, discussion questions and recommended reading, and with terminology updated throughout, Inclusive Education is essential reading for second- and third-year students looking to extend their research and writing, and to develop their critical and reflective thinking.

Zeta Williams-Brown is Professor for Inclusive Education and Co-Leader at the University of Wolverhampton’s Centre for Research in Education and Social Transformation (CREST), where she also leads the Childhood, Families, Diversity and Inclusion hub. She is an International Education Studies Association (TIESA) executive member, Chair of the Editorial Board and Co-Editor for one of the association’s journals, Educational Futures.
