The Latter-Day Saint Republican is a content series began during the Christmas season of 2024. Part of the work includes a promotional piece written for The Latter-Day Saint Republican, 'The Living Waters of Republicanism.'

The Latter-Day Saint Republican Series consists of 24 essays. These essays span between December 15, 2024 and May 25, 2025. It is a philosophical work on my views on Politics & Government and other topics in connection with my religious faith.

The Living Waters of Republicanism

Some say gold is the most precious resource on earth. Some say time is the most precious resource on earth. But, gold is not essential to survival. Time is a human construct and not of eternal value.

Water is the most precious resource on earth. Most of the earth is covered with water. The majority of the human body consists of water. If the human body was completely drained of water, it will be a skeleton.

Human survival is impossible without water. Life is unsustainable without water. It is projected potable, accessible water will grow increasingly scarce as the human population continues growing. Water is necessary and cannot be replaced. We cannot live without water (Melinda Flores, “Is water more precious than gold?,” updated June 22, 2024. ncesc.com, accessed December 20, 2024).

We read references in the Bible to the Living Waters. We have the promise those who drink from the Fountains of the Living Waters, we would not thirst again (John 4:14).

God warns if liberty ceases upon the earth, if we fail or cease to proclaim liberty; He will proclaim a libert “to the sword, to the pestilence, to the famine” (Jeremiah 34:17).

Paradise Lost

Lies, Deception, and the Fall

Human history begins with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It was paradise. The earth was in a pristine environment. God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden to watch over and care for the Creation on the earth. Adam and Eve were able to eat the fruit of every tree except from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, “for in the day thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17).

Lucifer came as a serpent and tempted Eve, asking; “Hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Eve answered, “We may eat of all the trees of the garden:

“But of the tree which is in the midst of the Garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall touch it, lest ye die.”

Then, Lucifer, the Devil, introduced the first lies to humanity when he deceived Eve:

“Ye shall surely not die.

“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:1-5).

Many today seek the fabled fountain of youth. They seek to reverse aging and live forever. New knowledge and discovery of new technologies led to the development of new skin products to remove blemishes from the skin and look fresh. People of means with wealth and resources have procedures and operations done on them to surgically remove fat to look thinner and use antiaging products to look younger, healthier, and vibrant. Those who cannot afford it go into debt for it.

But, this is an illusion we are deceived by. Today, this is aided and enhanced by Artificial Intelligence. It is a counterfeit offered by the eternal adversary, Lucifer, in violation of Natural Law and the Natural Order.

The First Murder

Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden for their transgression. Humanity is required to work for their survival and sustenance. Eve conceived and gave birth to Cain and Abel. Cain tilled the ground and planted seeds to grow food. Abel tended and cared for the sheep.

Cain and Abel gave offerings to God. Cain gave fruit from the ground as an offering to God. Abel gave the firstling of the flock and the fat of the lamb as his offering. God favored Abel’s offering over Cain’s offering. Cain was wroth. His countenance fell (Genesis 4:1-5).

Cain and Abel went out into the field. Cain rose and murdered his brother, Abel.

God asked Cain, “Where is Abel, thy brother?”

Another lie is introduced by Lucifer, our eternal adversary, through Cain.

Cain answered God:

“I know not. Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:8-9).

Many today get envious and covetous of others. They get envious and covetous over the good fortunes of others. They play the victim and act entitled. They blame others when things do not go well for them. They seek power and dominion over others to get what they want. These people will murder anybody who they feel is the cause of their misfortunes and anybody who gets in their way.

They will seek to cover their tracks and erase any evidence connecting them with the murder. They run, hide, and do anything to evade justice and the law and not be held accountable for their crimes. Some would even justify themselves in their actions.

“Lie a little, take advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this;... If it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last, we are saved in the Kingdom of God” (2 Nephi 28:8, the Standard Works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints).

Nimrod the Great Conqueror and the First Earthly Monarchy

Noah and his sons were commanded to multiply and fill the earth after the Flood. Cush was a son of Ham, a son of Noah. Nimrod was a son of Cush. Nimrod was “a mighty one in the earth,” “the mighty hunter before the Lord” (Genesis 10:6, 8-9).

Nimrod established his Kingdom in “Babel, and Erech and Accad; and Calneh, in the land of Shinar (later Babylon).

“Out of the land came forth Ashur and built Nineveh, and the city of Reheboth and Calah,

“And Resen between Nineveh and Calah, the same is a great city” (Genesis 10:10-12).

Assyria is referred to as “the land of Nimrod” in the Old Testament (Micah 5:6).

The Jewish historian, Josephus, identified Nimrod as the ancient ruler who introduced heathenism and idol worship to humanity. Nimrod placed himself and others above humanity. He put animals above humanity. He put nature above humanity. God warned against the dangers of Kings and monarchies in the Bible.

God gave this warning to the Prophet, Samuel when the Isreaelites asked for a King:

“He will take your sons and upon them for himself for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

“And he will appoint him captains over thousands and captains over fifties, and will set them to cultivate his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

“And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

“And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

“And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give them to his officers, and to his servants” (1 Samuel 8:11-15).

The First Democracy and the Precursor to Marxism

Joseph was born to Jacob and his second wife, Rachel. Joseph had ten older brothers and a younger brother, Benjamin. Jacob and Rachel loved Joseph very much. Jacob favored Joseph over his ten older brothers. His older brothers resented him because of it, especially when Jacob gave “a coat of many colors” to him (Genesis 37:3).

Joseph dreamed one night he was out with his brothers binding sheaves in the field. His sheaf rose and stood upright. The sheaves of his brothers stood around his sheaf and bowed before his sheaf. He dreamed the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed before him (Genesis 37:7-9).

His ten older brothers resented him more because of his dreams.

His brothers asked him:

“Shalt thou indeed reign over us? Shalt thou indeed have dominion over us?”

One day, Joseph’s brothers went to Dotham to feed the flocks. Jacob sent Joseph to check on his older brothers. His brothers saw him from far off and conspired to slay him.

“Behold, this dreamer cometh.

“Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him in some pit, and we will say some evil beast devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams” (Genesis 37:19-20).

They tore his coat off of him and threw him in a pit. They shred his coat off of him and dipped it in goat blood. They sold Joseph to a band of Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The Ishmaelites carried him away to Egypt. His brothers returned to their father with Joseph’s coat torn and soiled in blood, saying “Joseph was devoured by beasts.”

I think of the line from “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat:”

“Joseph, the things which he stood for, like democracy. May peace and love never die.”

This statement is reflective of a concept I learned in Political Science. It is a political principle they call the democratic peace. The notion being advanced by democratic peace is the belief the more democratic the world is, the more peaceful the world will be. Foreign Policy formulated around the democratic peace ideal is a push to democratize the world. Democratization is the battlecry of Progressivism, Liberalism, Globalism, Internationalism, democrats, and the Neoconservatives.

The Living Waters and Restoring Paradise

“The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water” (Isaiah 35:7).

“The desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose” (Isaiah 35:1).

“The Lord shall comfort Zion: He will comfort her waste places; and her desert like the garden of the Lord” (Isaiah 51:3).

I reviewed in the last section how and why Paradise was lost. Lucifer deceived Adam and Eve into believing they could become as God, knowing good and evil, and deceived them into believing they could cheat death and live forever. Acting under the influence of our eternal adversary, Lucifer, Cain killed Abel and straight up lied to...
