Counselors, psychologists, and helping professionals can transform their approach to social justice with a dynamic S-quad model emphasizing strength, solidarity, strategy, and sustainability. Thought-provoking activities and self-assessments blend personal conviction with professional planning for impactful social change.
Workbook for Social Action for Counselors, Psychologists, and Helping Professionals: Strength, Solidarity, Strategy, and Sustainability provides those in the helping professions with a dynamic and effective model to engage in social action, social justice, and advocacy. It leverages the S-quad model—Strength, Solidarity, Strategy, and Sustainability—to help individuals more intentionally and systematically incorporate justice and activism into their practice and their personal lives.
The workbook is organized into three sections. The first section provides an introduction to context, concepts, and activities that will prime readers to begin thinking about how to take action in the helping professions. The second section dives deep into the four areas of reflection, detailing the S-quad framework and offering examples and activities for self-assessment. In the final section, readers are guided through a process of articulating their personal and professional social action plans.
Developed to equip helping professionals with the tools, self-awareness, and knowledge they need to effect meaningful change, Workbook for Social Action for Counselors, Psychologists, and Helping Professionals is ideal for courses and programs in counseling, psychology, human services, social work, and related fields.
