This book features a selection of the best papers accepted for presentation and discussion at the 2025 International Conference in Information Systems and Medicine (ICISMED25). Held from April 3 to 5, 2025, ICISMED25 is a multidisciplinary conference with a particular focus on emerging technologies and systems in the healthcare sector. The event was supported by the Universidad Autónoma de Chile in Santiago and the International Association for Digital Transformation and Technological Innovation (IADITI).

This volume is intended for researchers, academics, lecturers, specialists, professionals, doctoral and master's students, undergraduates, and practitioners working at the intersection of healthcare and information technologies. The book addresses foundational and advanced concepts related to the paradigm of intelligent computing and communication within the context of distributed computing, big data, high-performance computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), specifically applied to health care.

Given the critical need to develop adaptive, intelligent, energy-efficient, secure, and privacy-aware mechanisms in high-performance and IoT-based healthcare applications, this book serves as both a practical reference for industry professionals and a foundational guide for beginners. It facilitates understanding from basic principles to advanced practices in computing paradigms and their application to healthcare challenges.

Global health research increasingly prioritizes responsive strategies to the rapid changes reshaping our world technological, political, social, cultural, educational, and economic all of which impact healthcare delivery and systems. This publication provides an opportunity for academics and practitioners from diverse health-related fields to build bridges of knowledge, encourage research, and support the ongoing evolution of healthcare systems.

The ICISMED25 Scientific Committee comprises a multidisciplinary panel of 120 experts who reviewed 94 submissions from 17 countries.

Autor

Iván Claudio Suazo Galdames PhD in Morphology from the Federal University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), Master in Neurosciences and Behavioural Biology from the Pablo de Olavide University (Spain) and Dental Surgeon from the University of Chile (Chile). He has been professor of Morphology at Chilean and foreign Universities, is a member of the SINPOS research group (Peripheral Nervous System and Sense Organs) at the University of Oviedo. Editor in chief of the International Journal of Medical and Surgical Sciences and the European Journal of Health Research. He is currently Vice-Rector of Research and Doctorates at the Autonomous University of Chile. Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies.

Enrique Vázquez-Justo PhD in Psychology, area Neuropsychology, by the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), as well as a Bachelor's degree Compostela (Spain), as well as Bachelor's degree and Bachelor's degree from the same University. Specialist in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology by the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses. President of the Instituto Europeu de Estudos Superiores (Portugal), he is also Professor in the Master in Neuropsychological Evaluation and Rehabilitation and the Doctorate in Health Sciences at the Universidad Camilo José Cela in Madrid. University Professor in the different professional categories since 1995, with responsibility in the coordination of responsibility in the coordination of Degrees, Masters, Areas and disciplines. 

António Abreu Post-Doctorate in Information Technologies and Systems, by the University of Coimbra, Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra. Associate Professor at Porto Accounting and Business School/ Polytechnic University of Porto (Portugal). PhD in Software Engineering based on reusable components with Human-Machine Interface applications, by the University of Vigo. Master in Management Informatics by the University of Minho and Degree in Informatics Applied Mathematics by the Lusíada University. Integrated researcher of the Research Centre CEOS.PP - Centre for Organizational and Social Studies of the Polytechnic of Porto. Between 2015 and 2018 he was Coordinator for Market Development of the Training Centre and Services Abroad of ISCAP. Member of the Direction of the Master in Digital Communication. Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Information Systems Engineering and Management (JISEM). Editor-in-chief of the Journal Technologies Information and Communication (RTIC). President of IADITI - International Association for Digital Transformation and Technological Innovation. General Chair of ICOTTS - International Conference on Tourism, Technology & Systems and ICITED - International Conference in Information Technology & Education.

João Vidal de Carvalho Post-Doctorate in Technologies and Information Systems at the University of Coimbra. Associate Professor at Porto Accounting and Business School/ Polytechnic University of Porto (Portugal). PhD in Information Systems and Technology from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Master in Information Technology Management from the University of Minho and Degree in Informatics/Applied Mathematics from the Portucalense University. He was (between 2020 and 2022) Vice-Director of the Research Center for Organizational and Social Studies of the Polytechnic of Porto (CEOS.PP). Effective member of the Committee for Recognition / Certification of Skills of ISCAP / Polytechnic University of Porto. Vice-President of IADITI International Association for Digital Transformation and Technological Innovation.
