Guy Widdershoven is Emeritus Professor of Medical Philosophy and Ethics at Amsterdam University Medical Center, VU University Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has over 40 years of experience in developing and delivering bioethics education for medical and health sciences students. He initiated a pioneering master programme in bioethics, 'Philosophy, Bioethics and Health (PBH)', which is a collaboration between an academic hospital and a philosophy department. Alongside his teaching activities, he has coordinated numerous research projects in healthcare ethics combining dialogical ethics and participative methodologies, focusing on ethical issues in psychiatry and ethical aspects of care around the end of life, particularly palliative care and euthanasia. He has also published widely on the theory and practice of clinical ethics and moral case deliberation.
