Mohamed Elhassan Abdalla, MBBS, MSc, PhD, FAcadMEd

Dr. Mohamed Elhassan Abdalla is an international leader in medical education and one of the foremost advocates for social accountability in health professions education. He received the 2024 Charles Boelen International Award on Social Accountability by the Association of Faculties of Medicine Canada (AFMC). In his journey in medical education, he has made significant contributions across Sudan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Ireland. He led the development of accreditation systems, curriculum reforms, and postgraduate programs in health professions education across three continents. Currently, as an associate professor at the School of Medicine, University of Limerick, Ireland, he co-founded the Social Accountability in Medical Education Group and directs the MSc in Health Professions Education. He is a fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators. He is also an author of AMEE Guides, book chapters, and peer-reviewed papers on social accountability, educational leadership, and curricular reform. He also serves on several international advisory boards, including The Network-TUFH, the Academy of Medical Educators, the Society of Cost and Value in Health Professions Education and the International Social Accountability and Accreditation Steering Committee (ISAASC), influencing policy and advancing the global dialogue on socially accountable medical education.

Dr. Mohamed H. Taha is a global expert in social accountability in health professions education, with over 15 years of experience in curriculum development, academic leadership, and social accountability. He is Director of the Medical Education Centre at the University of Sharjah, UAE, where he coordinates the PG Diploma, MSc in Leadership in Health Professions Education, and PhD in Health Professions Education programs. He holds a Master s and PhD in Health Professions Education and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators (FAcadMEd, UK) and the International Association for Health Professions Education (FAMEE).
