Dr Edgar Segovia is an expert in renewable energy transitions, energy efficiency, and human-centred energy solutions. As a Researcher at the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre and a consultant at V-LAB, both in the UK, he specialises in thermal comfort, decarbonisation, smart grid integration, and building modelling using digital twin technology. Dr Segovia holds a PhD in Psychology and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Teesside University, UK, as well as an MSc in Engineering from Sapienza University, Italy.With extensive experience in forecasting electricity consumption and leading net-zero projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in the UK, Dr Edgar Segovia contributed significantly to the EU-funded eDREAM project (European Distributed REsearch Infrastructure for Advanced Electron Microscopy), focusing on energy demand prediction and the implementation of demand response strategies. He has also worked on electrification projects in Kenya, where he trained future energy professionals at the Microgrid Academy in Nairobi, an initiative funded by the EU to provide technical and conceptual knowledge for the next generation of energy experts. Dr Segovia's work, supported by multiple NERC-funded projects and numerous publications, has been instrumental in integrating social sciences into sustainable energy initiatives. He is a passionate advocate for merging technological innovation with human-centric insights to create impactful and sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
