The first comprehensive survey of the career of Katrina Palmer, the fourth Artist in Residence at the National Gallery.
This publication is the first survey of Katrina Palmer’s career to date, introducing her research-led practice to a broad audience. The book provides an overview of Palmer’s work across a range of media including sculpture, audio environments, printed matter and performance, blending the realms of fact and fiction to interrogate the spaces we inhabit.
An introductory essay by Oreet Ashery will explore the key themes present in the artist’s practice, including concepts of loss, violence, the structure of institutions and the role of writing and books. With a selection of short entries on some of Palmer’s previous projects, the publication will also feature new material produced by her during the development of her commission for the National Gallery, with exclusive images of the new work.
