Clifford Young and Kirby Goidel offer a rigorous and operational definition of nativism that, in combination with original survey data, explores public attitudes about who counts as an American.

Clifford Young is President of United States Public Affairs at Ipsos. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Chicago.
Kirby Goidel is Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University. He holds a PhD in American Government from the University of Kentucky. He is also former Director of the Texas A&M University Public Policy Research Institute at and the Louisiana State University Public Policy Research Lab.
