‘Liberating Ideas' examines the contemporary tensions, dominant rationales, and key questions impacting the lives of people in the West from both social and clinical psychological perspectives.
Throughout the ages, many societies lost their sanity, suffered from identity crises, and descended into chaos. Empires and grand civilizations have crumbled when they lost their cohesive collective identities that once bound their people together and gave them reason to live and die for. Germany pre-Second World War, the Ottoman Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, the Byzantine Empire, the Persian kingdoms are among the obvious examples. These societies all bore witness to the surge of irrational ideologies that precipitated their demise.

‘Liberating Ideas' examines the contemporary tensions, dominant rationales, and key questions impacting the lives of people in the West from both social and clinical psychological perspectives. It explores the identity crisis resulting from massive and rapid demographic change, the failure of leadership, and the lack of a uniting identity occurring all over the West, as well as the consequences of the interplay between these factors. Authored by Talal Alali, a professor of clinical and social psychology specialising in identity, wars, and traumas, the book leverages his expertise to dissect the current state of affairs and provide a solution to avert potential civil unrest in the Western hemisphere.

Alali examines the interplay between the current landscape in the Middle East, mass migration patterns to the West, and the polarization of American society, along with the evolving power dynamics between China and Taiwan, and the implications of a shifting global power axis. He predicts how these factors are leading to civil unrest. He discusses likely outcomes of ongoing conflicts such as the Gaza war, and how a permanent peace can be established. The book analyses the mentality and identities of the fighting groups and explains how they can coexist peacefully.
