This text is appropriate for courses in Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties.

Flexible in design, this book offers comprehensive coverage of two traditional constitutional law subjects: governmental powers and civil liberties.  It strives to balance historically significant cases with contemporary problems and includes excerpts of significant cases within the text. Written in a style designed for undergraduates, legal terms are defined in a running glossary and applications assignments appear at the end of each chapter. A special feature, Your Constitutional Values, helps make students aware that constitutional law occurs at all levels, branches and areas of the government–not just the U.S. Supreme Court.

A native of Indiana, Daniel E. Hall is Dean of the Hamilton Campus and Professor of Political Science at Miami University. He was formerly chairperson of the Department of Criminal Justice at The University of Toledo and Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida. He has also held adjunct faculty positions at the Barry University School of Law and the University of Evansville.  He earned his B.S. at Indiana University, J.D. at Washburn University, and Ed.D. at the University of Central Florida. In addition to experience as a defense attorney in the United States and assistant attorney general of the Federated States of Micronesia, he has thirteen years of experience teaching criminal law and procedure in higher education. He has authored a dozen journal articles and another dozen books, all on public law subjects.  Daniel has been married to Stacey Lynn Hall since 1991.  They live in Ross, Ohio with their daughters, Grace Kathryn and Eva Joan, and their golden retriever Atticus.   John P. Feldmeier earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio Dominican College, J.D. from Capital University Law School, and M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Miami University.  Before joining the academy, Dr. Feldmeier practiced law in Ohio, handling several cases involving important constitutional law issues, one that reached the United States Supreme Court.  Dr. Feldmeier has several articles published on constitutional law subjects in law reviews and political science journals.  He is currently associate professor of political science at Wright State University.  John currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife, Melissa, and their two children, Emma and Jack.
