The strength of the German school was always "lecturing", less so than "learning".Traditionally learning has not been part of a child's excitement about his or her own potenzial. With more than 200 hours of film material, Reinhard Kahl has assembled the picture of a possible future. The film was shot during classes and everyday school life, with interviews done with teachers, students, parents and researchers in various parts of Germany. The result: the future has already long since begun in some schools, and the film presents it. At the same time, the gap becomes apparent between it and the often dreary normal school routine. This is still dominated, as the cognitive psychologist Elsbeth Stern notes in the film, by "Easter Bunny" teaching: teachers hide the knowledge, and the students have to look for it.
