GENOCIDE PREPARATION IN ETHIOPIA. WHEN COMPARED TO THE NAZI PARTY AND HUTU POWER

Moa Tewa is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes. The purpose of this Association shall be to foster and encourage a strong sense of cooperation among Orthodox Christians who have been systematically alienated from all fundamental sectors within their respective communities and targeted for persecution by various interest groups.

THE BEGINNING OF THE IDEA OF GENOCIDE

Genocide is not an overnight act. It lasts for ages and grows slowly. As we can see in the history of world genocide, we find that crimes of genocide committed were carried out after they were discussed for 50 or 100 years.

I will try to compare this article from the perspective of Nazi Germany and the Rwandan Hutu government, starting from the beginning as much as possible. Of course, there are people who try to argue that there is no genocide in Ethiopia. There are “honest” people who try to see the party that says genocide is happening as dark. They try to present their arguments logically by saying, “it is the nature of change”.

I believe that this is due to two things. I think one is due to misunderstanding the nature of genocide, and the second is due to lack of understanding of what is being prepared, written and narrated by the other side. In fact the preparation of genocide that is being organized and was being organized in Ethiopia can be seen. It seems that a preparation that has been working especially in the last 30 years is now showing its fruits. The organized genocide in Ethiopia can be seen from two perspectives.

One is to destroy the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, which is supported by the Catholic Church and believes in “one son”, which was earlier than the Roman Catholic Church, and which rivals the Vatican‟s antiquity. In addition, it is the group that is supported by those who promote the ideology of Fascist Italy, who believe that “the reason for our defeat is Amhara and Orthodoxy”.

The second is to rehabilitate anti-Semitism and establish a foothold in Africa. When the foundation is laid, it is done to destroy “Moderate Kush” who support the “anti-Semitism” movement and think they cannot enforce it. It is a Nazi-backed OLF group. The Amhara and the Orthodox Tewahido Church is the “historical enemy” of this group.

The third group is still operating in the name of Oromo independence, but the goal is to create an “Islamic Oromia” and is known as the “East wing of the OLF” and the “Islamic State for Oromia Liberation”.

This party is supported by Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Arab countries. The Orthodox Tewahido Church and the Amhara have been labeled as the “historical enemy” of this group.

With these three objectives, the parties trying to disintegrate Ethiopia are coordinating from the inside and portraying each other as a “historical enemy”, thus, the crime of genocide has been planned and prepared earlier.

Although the preparation of genocide in Ethiopia is interwoven, multi-faceted and never-ending, the reason for the preparation of this article will be to highlight only the part that is being presented at the moment. Namely, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church and the “Amhara” people have been labeled as “historical enemies” by the government10 led by OLF, which is currently in control of the government, indicating that there is another arrangement greater than the genocide that has been committed so far.

This means that the prime minister has already been infiltrated by the OLF. At present, if we look at most of the advisors, we will find that they are the founders of the OLF who used to be the top leaders of the OLF.

Not only this, but in the name of reconciliation, the prime minister who brought the OLF army from Eritrea and allowed it to operate in Ethiopia around 1991, Lencho leta and his members are questioning whether they are doing what they said, “if we don‟t clear other nations from Oromia first, it is not appropriate to take power” by holding power and being in the forest.

At the same time, at the beginning of the establishment of the charter government, the OLF left the Ministry of defense assigned to lead it, and “it was moving around the countryside killing innocent people by stationing its main forces in camps” (Abadula Gemeda, the struggle of the Oromo people from where to where, 1996, p. 142) is still repeating.

Therefore, in this book, I have compared what was planned in Ethiopia in terms of the German Nazi massacre, which was supported by the German anti-Semitic ideology and controlled the power, and the Rwandan Hutu massacre, which was directed by Germany. After reading the book, the reader will judge whether there is a preparation for genocide or not.

2.1. The narrative of racial difference “We and they”

Genocide preparation begins with the creation of “racial differences” as “we and they”. Even if we look at two of the genocide crimes committed in the past, that of Germany and Rwanda, the narrative begins with the exclusion of “they/they”. We find that the beginning and performance of the Jewish genocide and the Tutsi genocide, which took place 50 years apart, are similar. It is useful to compare the history of the two countries with what is happening in our country.

The genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda was not a short-term plan and idea, planned over a few months and years. It is an act that has been planned since many years ago. This act of genocide has been spreading slowly since many years before it, tearing apart the social and economic interactions between the two tribes, destroying their unity and solidarity. Basically, as described by different historians, there are three types of “tribes” in Rwanda. It is said that these peoples described as “Hutu”, “Tutsi” and “Twa” have a unity that cannot be called a difference.

Some demographers say that the differences between these peoples are so close that they cannot even be called “tribes”. Because these peoples speak the same language, live the same way of life, follow the same religion and are married and born11. Furthermore, they say that the difference between the “tribes” is a class difference and not a racial difference.

Furthermore, they say that the difference between the “tribes” is a class difference and not a racial difference. This is “Tutsi” who was “Hutu”. There was time when Tutsi were called “Hutu”. The difference between Hutu and Tutsi was also the number of cattle, the difference in wealth. For this reason, they say that if one is born of “Hutu” blood and produces a lot of cattle, he is called “Tutsi”, and if he is born of “Tutsi” blood and does not have cattle, he is called “Hutu”. Therefore, this is the basis of historians who say that the difference between Hutu and Tutsi is not racial difference, but a class difference12.

Other than that, the people of Rwanda had the same language, the same religion and the same culture. Even in administration, they were governed by a royal system called “Umiwami”. There were people who called themselves “Banya Rwanda” (People of Rwanda). Because of these reasons, there are researchers who say that even if there is difference between the Rwandan people, it cannot be a racial difference except for a class difference13.

However, the existence of Rwandans as a nation could not continue after 1901. When the European colonialists divided the countries after signing the Treaty of Berlin in 1892 to subjugate African countries, Rwanda was given to Germany14. Before this conference, Germany had been exploring East Africa with its spies, studying the countries and the ways to divide them.

O. Baumann, Earl G.A. Von Gotzen, Dr.R. Kandr, R.Kraf15 who were spy and search for German to colonize countries, what they found when they arrived in Rwanda surprised them. They started to write “History” to make it convenient for their policy of dividing and ruling in order to make it easier for them to rule.

They began to describe the people who were divided by class as having racial differences. They wrote of the classrich Tutsi as a white-quick race and cultured. They wrote

that the generation of Tutsis is not from Africa but from the Middle East16.

The origin of the Tutsis in Rwanda is from the Middle East and they entered Rwanda through Ethiopia. They also narrated that there are Ethiopians who are their descendants. To confirm their story, they said that “Tutsis are Jews who escaped from Pharaoh‟s hands and returned

to Canaan, were cut off in Ethiopia, followed the source of the Nile and entered Rwanda17.

This story was accepted by the white “scholars”, so the “scholars” wrote it while accepting it. They also taught Rwandans this creative narrative in their education policy18.

However, when Germany lost its colonies in Africa after World War I, certain German colonies countries those deemed “unable to govern themselves” were assigned a guardian colonist. As a result, in 1923 Rwanda was decided to be ruled by Belgium19.

When the Belgians began to rule Rwanda, they followed in Germany‟s footsteps and strengthened the policy of divide and rule. They expanded the ethnic community by bringing the Tutsi race closer to the whites. The German and Belgians choose the Tutsis for their colonies and began to employ them. Beyond that, since 1936, they made Rwandans‟ identity cards to be issued separately by race, and the names “Hutu”, “Tutsi”, and “Twa” were written on...
