Building on this success, the second edition of Comprehensive Review of Headache Medicine serves as a versatile text designed for both learners and experienced practitioners who treat patients with various types of head pain, namely doctors, nurses, dentists, and therapists.

Dr Morris Levin serves, once again, as the editor of this multi-authored work to ensure a useful and coherent reading experience, with current information and recommendations. The second edition begins with chapters on the anatomic and physiological foundations of head pain, followed by detailed sections on diagnosing primary and secondary headache conditions. Subsequent chapters cover the treatment of headache disorders, including special populations and complementary therapies.

Expert authors have focused their chapters on the practical needs of medical, dental, and other healthcare providers. Instead of exhaustive referencing, each chapter includes a list of recommended readings and self-assessment questions, totaling around 260 throughout the book. The content has been thoroughly updated to reflect recent advances in our understanding of headache medicine and covers all required information from the headache medicine board exam.

Dr Morris Levin is a Professor in the UCSF Department of Neurology and is the Director of the UCSF Headache Center. He is board certified in neurology (ABPN), pain medicine (ABPN), and headache medicine (UCNS). He is formerly the co-director of the Dartmouth Headache Center and Program Director of the Dartmouth Residency Training Program. He has authored a number of medical journal articles and textbook chapters, as well as Headache and Facial Pain, Second Edition (Oxford University Press 2022), Emergency Neurology (Oxford University Press 2021), and co-authored Understanding Your Migraines: A Guide for Patients and Families (Oxford University Press 2017). He also coauthored the IHS's International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD) 3rd edition.
