The Forum and the observatory that culminated in the preparation of the SDGs Report in Mozambique are a mirror of the commitment assumed by the country in promoting socio-economic development conditions of the populations. By assuming the 17 SDGs as part of the national agenda, these have been an added value in the efforts undertaken to preserve national potentialities. Taking into account the cyclical occurrence of phenomena associated with climate change, it is urgent to provide communities with prevention tools. It is urgent to contribute to their emancipation, in order to make them understand the need to assume a proactive leadership in the face of the impacts of global warming. An education focused on the development of competencies allows raising people's awareness about the management and preservation of natural resources and the environment. The SDGs are a localized global platform of measures and strategies towards an increasingly sustainable and balanced planet.
Alberto Bive Domingos is a lecturer and researcher at Licungo University, author of several publications, and collaborates with teaching and research institutions. He was awarded the prize for best doctoral thesis in Brazil, and has received academic recognition in the country. He has embraced the cause of sustainability because of the bad weather situations in the country.
