As our world becomes increasingly diverse and technologically-driven, the role and identities of teachers continues to change. Cases on Teacher Identity, Diversity, and Cognition in Higher Education seeks to address this change and provide an accurate depiction of the teaching profession today. This thought-provoking collection of cases covers a range of educational contexts from preschool teaching in Europe to higher education in Australia and North America, and draws on expert knowledge of these diverse contexts, centered on a common theme of teacher identity. This book can be used by teacher educators and trainee teachers, as well as those who have an interest in social research into teaching.

Paul Breen is a Senior Lecturer in University of Westminster, London and a PhD graduate of University of Manchester. He has previously completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education, and a Master’s degree in Education, specializing in English Language Teaching and Educational Technology. Born in Ireland, he has worked in a number of contexts both in the UK and overseas, including language schools in Japan and Australia, as well as a national university of technology in Korea. This is his first edited book publication, but he has previously had chapters and articles published in other academic works, alongside a body of publication in associated areas of interest. These include previous IGI Global publications edited by Siran Mukerji and Purnendu Tripathi, a conversational English textbook, and a work of fiction published in 2014 by Thames River Press. In recent years, he has presented at educational conferences in the United Kingdom, the United States, Finland, and Albania. Paul’s research interests are primarily in the areas of identity (professional, personal, and cultural), teacher development, educational technology, and studies conducted in researchers’ own workplaces.
