Slave trade took place in Europe far before 1776. Killing black people became a white tradition. Blacks were not considered human beings. Millions of black people became feed for sharks. They were treated worse than dogs. White people in America saw the opportunity to cash in on free labor. The south is less industrialized than the north had far more use for human laborers. Blacks were considered property. When you own property, you could do anything you want to it. Thousands of black people died while being shipped by means such as the Transatlantic Slave Network. Selling and buying blacks was a big and profitable business. White slave owners were getting rich using free labor. How could Lincoln ever think he could reverse a movement that was making the white man millions of dollars?
