Fiora Biagi is a teacher of Italian language and culture, linguistics, intercultural communication and English language. She is currently Academic Coordinator, Researcher and Instructor at Siena Italian Studies, Italy, where she contributed greatly to development of the Reflective Intercultural Competence Assessment (RICA) model. She is a researcher in the fields of language acquisition, language teaching and didactics, intercultural studies, intercultural competence and its assessment, and the role of service-learning in a full-immersion context. She is the co-author of the book L'educazione riflessiva interculturale: L'approccio FICCS allo studio della lingua e cultura italiana, and holds a degree in Foreign Languages and a PhD in Linguistics and Teaching Italian to Foreigners.Lavinia Bracci is the founder and Director of Siena Italian Studies, Italy, which hosts educational exchange programmes for undergraduate and graduate students. Her research interests are innovative pedagogies in the field of intercultural studies and intercultural competence assessment. She invented the 'Full-Immersion: Culture, Content and Service' approach to develop reflective intercultural competence and the RICA Model for its assessment. She has been an ambassador of the EUFICCS approach worldwide, contributing to research in the field of reflective education and service-learning, and co-authored the book L'educazione riflessiva interculturale: L'approccio FICCS allo studio della lingua e cultura italiana. She holds a degree in Translation and Simultaneous Interpreting in German and Russian, and taught foreign languages and Italian as a second language for many years.
