Laura Guercio is a practising lawyer in Italy with experience in other jurisdictions such as the UK and the Republic of Ireland. She holds a degree in Law and a degree in Political Science, and she completed her doctoral studies in Social Science at the University of Genoa, Italy, and Trinity College Dublin, Republic of Ireland. She is Professor of Sociology of Fundamental Rights at the University of Perugia, Italy. She is currently Secretary General of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Human Rights at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian Agent on the Management Board of the European Fundamental Rights Agency, and member of the Council of the European Law Institute. A Member of the International Criminal Bar, she has been admitted to the list of Assistants to Counsel before the International Criminal Court. She is also a Senior Researcher in EU and international projects in the MENA area.
