Keville Frederickson taught nursing at Columbia University in various clinical areas such as neurology, ophthalmology, medicare, and surgery. In 1970 she completed her master's of education in psychiatric/mental health nursing. In 1971 she taught psychiatric/mental health nursing as an assistant professor. In 1974, after receiving her doctoral degree in nursing education she joined the faculty in the division of nursing at the New York University, where she was an associate professor and director of the Center for Continuing Education in Nursing. She was then appointed professor of nursing, associate dean for faculty and academic affairs. She is professor and director of the graduate program, and formerly clinical nurse scientist at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. Additionally, Dr. Frederickson acts as a consultant on nursing textbooks and serves on various nursing educational and research committees nationally. Dr. Frederickson also maintained a private practice as a nurse-psychotherapist and has given numerous workshops and written chapters for books on private nursing practice, psychiatric/ mental health nursing, and nursing practice models. She is a member of the National Academy of Practice in Nursing and a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
