The Global Agenda for Social Work (2012) calls on social work educators and practitioners who witness the daily realities of personal, social and community challenges to design and strengthen the profile and visibility of social work and to enable social workers to make a stronger contribution to policy development. Emmanuel Janagan Johnson holds a PhD in Social Work, and is working as a Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of Social Work Unit at the Department of Behavioural Sciences of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad. He has 26 years of teaching experience, and his areas of research interest are the challenges and problems facing women and children. He has published two books and more than 60 research articles in various international journals.
