J. A. Mangan is Director of the International Research Centre for Sport, Socialisation and Society at the University of Strathclyde and author and editor of many books. He is founder and General Editor of the Cass series Sport in the Global Society and founding and Executive Academic Editor of many Cass journals. Fan Hong is reader in Department of Sports Sciences at De Montfort University. She was an editor of the Journal of Sports Culture and History, published by the Sports Mnistry in Beijing in the 1980s. her main research interests are in the areas of body, gender and sport with particular reference to China and Asia.
