This volume explores the changing nature of gender and love in the twenty-first century from a variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Gender and love are so intimately interconnected that it sometimes seems as though they bring each other into being. But their relationship is shifting as human society develops new understandings of identity, gender and the self. Deirdre C. Byrne, D.Litt et Phil (1996), University of South Africa, is professor of Gender Studies and English at that university. She has published academic articles on gender in/and poetry, gender in speculative fiction, and the writing of Ursula K. Le Guin. Wernmei Yong Ade, Ph.D. (2006), Edinburgh University is Assistant Professor in English at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). Her current research focuses on love as a discourse of alterity in the works of contemporary women writers.
