Author's Note
I invite you to read through The Mind's Eye : An Introduction to Making Images as a meditation salted with a couple of games. I wrote most of the exercises in a gossipy way so that they would slide into the text more or less unnoticed. The whole thing has turned out to be a rambling meditation on the pleasures and pain of art practice without any particular age group in mind.

Autor

About the Artist & Author Judith Mason was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1938. She died in Mpumalanga, South Africa, in 2016. Mason was a technically disciplined artist working in oil, pencil, printmaking and mixed media. She taught art at Scuola Lorenzo de Medici, Florence Italy, Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, University of the Witwatersrand and privately. Her work is represented in South African national art collections and museums and internationally in private and public collections including Yale University; The Bodleian Library, University of Oxford and the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Washington DC. Major public commissions include 'The Man Who Sang and the Woman Who Kept Silent' aka The Blue Dress at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg and tapestries in collaboration with Stephens Tapestry Studio and stained-glass window designs for the Great Park Synagogue in Johannesburg, South Africa. Apart from producing a large body of work over the decades, Mason has published her work in books, artist's books and as limited edition lithographs with The Artists' Press.
