The book is organized by outlining and describing 45 teaching tips that educators can use to implement best practices for effectively supporting dual language learners in their classroom. Using these tips, the authors detail how teachers can foster a language- and culture-inclusive classroom environment for all students.

Dr. Tominey is currently the Director of Preschool RULER, an approach to embedding social and emotional learning into early childhood settings developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. As part of these responsibilities, Dr. Tominey regularly provides professional development trainings and workshops for early childhood programs in Connecticut and New York as well as in other states around the country.  In 2014, Dr. Tominey was featured as the full-day preconference workshop provider for the Young Child Expo in New York City and routinely presents at state and annual conferences (e.g., NAEYC) targeting early childhood educators. Dr. O’Bryon is an active member of the National Association of School Psychologists and currently serves as the Resources Committee Chair for the Bilingual School Psychology Interest Group.  As a postdoctoral associate at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, Dr. O’Bryon regularly presents at state and national conferences (e.g., NASP, NAEYC) targeting early childhood educators.
