This text combines crucial counselor knowledge with the experience of experts in the field into one practical guide for addressing the real world of school counselling.
Drawing on more than a decade of teaching, the author presents a collection of lessons and techniques that includes forms, websites, activities, and current information focusing on a range of challenging issues. The text is structured as 31 lesson plans, 30 school counseling topics plus one "bonus" lesson to help students transition to the workforce, including relevant standards, objectives, and activities. This unique format functions as a model for students to develop their own curriculum and lesson plans.

Dr. Helen Hamlet is a professional school counselor, school psychologist, teacher, licensed psychologist, community mental health counselor and experienced counselor educator. Her research interests include post-secondary transitions for individuals with disabilities; working with students with chronic illness; career counseling; supervision of students through the practicum and internship experience; and social networking and adolescents. Currently, she teaches Intercultural Issues in Counseling; Orientation and Ethics in School Counseling; Practicum; and Internship. Dr. Hamlet has a practice in the West Chester area, is a frequent guest lecturer at University of Pennsylvania, and is a consultant to public and private schools.
