Phil Jose is a 27-year veteran of the Seattle, WA, Fire Department where he is deputy chief of training. Chief Jose teaches nationally on tactics, air management, decision making, and instructional craftsmanship. He is a co-recipient of the 2008 FDIC Tom Brennan Teaching Achievement Award. He coauthored Air Management for the Fire Service (Fire Engineering, 2008), the "Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus" chapter in Fire Engineering's Handbook for Firefighter I and II (2008), the Bread and Butter Operations SCBA DVD, and numerous articles in fire service publications.
