Constant developments in information technologies make it necessary to take a detailed look at the subject of ‘Information and Society’. In recent years many scholars and politicians have considered the question of how information is and should be distributed. The volume looks, for the first time, at the phenomenon of information justice from the perspective of various disciplines, thus defining a new field of interdisciplinary research. It deals with matters of accessibility and information ethics, access to information for various elements of the population, as well as a number of practical areas, with regard to the fundamental approaches to the (just) distribution of information (libraries, electronic media). Ständig fortschreitende Informationstechnologien machen es notwendig, sich umfassend mit dem Thema “Information und Gesellschaft” auseinanderzusetzen. In den letzten Jahren haben sich viele Forscher und Politiker mit der Frage befasst, wie Information verteilt ist und wie sie verteilt werden sollte.Der Band untersucht erstmals das Phänomen der Informationsgerechtigkeit aus der Sicht verschiedener Disziplinen und skizziert damit ein neues Forschungsfeld. Behandelt werden Fragen der Zugänglichkeit und Informationsethik, der Zugang zu Informationen für verschiedene Bevölkerungsgruppen sowie verschiedene Praxisgebiete im Hinblick auf die zugrunde liegenden Ansätze zur (gerechten) Verteilung von Information (Bibliotheken, elektronische Medien).
