Knowing your legal rights may make the difference between bringing home a weekly paycheck and standing on an unemployment line. Here is a thorough, authoritative guide to the wide range of laws that protect an employee during the hiring process, on the job, and even after being laid off, fired, or reaching retirement. This comprehensive handbook also explains what role a union plays in dealing with employers, which laws guard against discrimination, and what federal agencies regulate conditions of employment and the relationship between workers and their bosses."The Rights of Employees "includes important information on social security, workers compensation, and unemployment insurance, and it provides a detailed listing of legal resources for victims of employment discrimination."

Wayne N. Outten is a member of the law firm of Lankenau Kovner & Bickford in New York City. His practice consists of general civil matters, including employment law, litigation, family law, and real estate. Before entering private practice, he was an instructor at New York University School of Law and a law clerk for Senior United States District Judge Gus J. Solomon in Portland, Oregon. He is a graduate of New York University School of Law (J.D.) and of Drexel University (B.S.). Noah A. Kinigstein attended Temple University Law School. He is a member of the New York bar and is in private practice in New York City where he specializes in workers’ rights law. He has a monthly radio program on WBAI Pacifica-FM on workers’ rights.
