This box of sixteen greeting cards has some of the world's most popular paintings by J W Waterhouse (1849-1917), one of the finest of all Victorian painters. The pictures depict legends of the Middle Ages and myths of the ancient world, and include such favourites as Ophelia and The Lady of Shalott.

J W Waterhouse (1849-1917) combined Pre-Raphaelite intensity with an assured freedom in the handling of paint to create many of the best-loved and most famous of all Victorian images. Turning to classical myth and medieval legend for inspiration, he combined perfect composition and brilliant colour with consummate skill in depicting the female figure and in creating a mysterious and romantic atmosphere.
