This volume is the final installment of a pioneering three-part series of Arabic textbooks which together provide a complete three-year or four-year undergraduate language program.
Munther Younes is a Senior Lecturer in Arabic and Linguistics and the Director of the Arabic Program at Cornell University, USA. He is also Professor at Large at the University of Global Studies in Sharjah, UAE. He received his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982. Munther has developed what is known as the Integrated Approach to Arabic Instruction and has published a book with that title. He has also published a number of articles and books on Arabic linguistics, the teaching of Arabic as a foreign language, and the language of the Qur’an. His most recent book, “al-ʿĀdiyāti Ḍabḥā am al-Ghādiyāti Ṣubḥā: A New Reading of Some Qur’anic Verses,” (2024) is a translation of his book Charging Steeds or Maidens Performing Good Deeds (Routledge 2019). Yomna Chami is an experienced Arabic language educator and curriculum developer. She is the author of the online course Arabic for Beginners and has over 20 years of experience teaching Arabic as a foreign and second language. Her teaching career spans several respected institutions, including Cornell University (New York, USA), the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (California, USA), the American University of Beirut (Lebanon), and the Lebanese American University (Beirut, Lebanon). Jonathan Featherstone has taught Arabic at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Defence School of Languages and more recently at the Universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge, UK. He has over 30 years of Arabic teaching experience. He is also a teacher trainer and has delivered intensive five-day workshops in Communicative Arabic Teaching using the Integrated Approach in the in the UK, UAE, and the USA.
