Legal Terminology, 5e places emphasis on developing an understanding of legal terminology through the study of law itself and on using legal terminology in many different ways rather than relying solely on rote memory.  This edition continues to serve as a  text/workbook and includes numerous student activities that assist instructors in teaching students to work with legal terminology; attention-getting motivational devices (including cartoons, graphics from the Library of Congress, and the “Word Wise,” “Web Wise,” and “Constitutional Wise” features) help to provide clear, concise explanations of the law.   The Table of Contents has been revised to include a new chapter, Court Systems and Jurisdiction” and each chapter now begins with an outline to give you a quick picture of what students can expect to learn in the chapter.

GORDON W. BROWN studied law to become and more knowledgeable teacher with expertise in the legal field.  He attended Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA, at night for four years, while teaching during the day.  After law school, he became a member of the Massachusetts Bar and took a position as a professor at North Shore Community College, Danvers, MA, where he taught for the next 30 years.  Before ending his 38 year teaching career, he taught business, secretarial, and paralegal subjects at Pepperell High School, Pepperell, MA; Endicott College, Beverly, MA; and North Shore Community College.  In addition to teaching, he also opened a law office in Beverly, MA, and enjoyed a full-time career of practicing law, writing textbooks, and being a husband to his wife, Jane.  He is also the father of 6 very special children, and has 12 grandchildren.  In 1998, Mr. Brown was awarded the Outstanding Educator Award from his alma mater, Salem State College.  Currently, Mr. Brown continues to be a member of the Massachusetts and Federal Bars.
