Curriculum Candy is an easy-to-use source of reading and writing projects that help teachers differentiate instruction. This new version features updated language, activities, and references to fit the needs of today’s classrooms.

Covering categories such as novels, poetry, fairy tales, autobiographies, nonfiction, and more, each page provides a menu of four in-depth, open-ended, and varied project choices, allowing students to pick a project that fits their interests, ability level, and learning style. Each menu is graphically interesting and perfect to post on a bulletin board or in a learning center for enrichment or extra credit choices.

This enriching, student-centered resource takes the guess work out of differentiating lesson extensions and is a must have for all teachers and gifted and talented specialists looking to challenge students with a variety of strengths and interests in one classroom.

Laurie Stolmack Eaton is a retired teacher and gifted and talented specialist with more than 35 years of experience. She has a master’s degree and endorsement in gifted and talented education. Laurie has taught in elementary and middle school, as well as serving as a gifted and talented specialist in the Denver Public Schools Gifted and Talented Department. She has worked with gifted specialists, teachers, and administrators throughout the district to find ways to identify and meet the needs of gifted students, to provide professional development on how to differentiate lessons, and to research, develop, and provide resources that tie in to the district curriculum. This book was specifically designed to enhance the literacy curriculum by providing student choice and project-based activities.
