The '16-19 Mathematics' materials have been developed with the aim of providing a sixth form course which carries forward the changes in mathematics teaching embodied in GCSE. The main principles behind the course include involving students in developing mathematical ideas; premature abstraction and over-reliance on algorithms; appropriate use of technological advances, such as graphics calculators or computers with graph plotting facility; confronting misunderstandings. The course is flexible enough to provide for the whole range of students who obtain at least grade C at GCSE.
