This title checks spellings against the second edition of the "Oxford Dictionary of English", advises on preferred Oxford spellings, gives warnings about commonly confused words, and links directly to the dictionary definitions.
This is an updated version of the first ever "Oxford" spellchecker on CD-ROM which fully integrates with Microsoft[registered] Office. It replaces the Microsoft[registered] spellchecker to give you Oxford-preferred spellings in all your documents, emails, and correspondence. But this is more than just a spellchecker - it is also an electronic dictionary. You can check meanings and usage during the spellcheck process, or look up words in the dictionary independently of the spellchecker function. It uses the unrivalled authority of "Oxford" dictionaries to check your spelling and give you definitions of more than 200,000 words from the "Oxford Dictionary of English." This new version allows you to set your default to British or American English. You can also specify whether you want to default to -ise or -ize spellings as standard, for example whether realise, prioritiseor realize, prioritize. You can set your default to get warnings of commonly confused words and spellings - like principal and principle, or stationary and stationery - so you can always be certain that you are using the correct term in the correct way.
