Jane Eyre Abridged
Hachette Learning (Verlag)
978-1-0360-0416-3 (ISBN)
Brontë's rich language and powerful style is here preserved in a sensitive abridgement of this much-loved and enduring tale. This concise and fast-paced form - the length of the average modern YA novel - is designed to allow students to experience the narrative arc of the full novel in an accessible introduction to nineteenth-century literature.
With the accompanying Jane Eyre Abridged: Teaching Resources, available to purchase as a downloadable PDF, the authors provide English departments with everything they need to deliver the text.
Following early careers leading funding-raising for major arts institutions in London and organising special events from the family home near Salisbury, Cristina George gained her QTS in 2007. With more than 10 years' experience as Head of Department and a role as CPD and Training Lead, she believes that giving students access to works that move and inspire will forge a love of literature, and introduced 'Jane Eyre' to KS3 with this aim. Katherine Tarring started her career in theatre, working as Casting Associate at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, before retraining as an English teacher. She now has 15 years' experience working in both independent and state schools. In her roles as Assistant Head of English and KS3 Coordinator, she has overseen the development of KS3 curriculums, striving to ensure that students are challenged, engaged and inspired by English literature.
