Schofield & Sims My Letters and Sounds is a comprehensive programme for teaching systematic synthetic phonics.
The My Letters and Sounds Year 1 Classroom Kit provides durable, physical, colour versions of the core teaching and learning resources that are used frequently and repeatedly in lessons in Year 1. The Phase Five Sound Mat can be used for regular practise of grapheme recognition and recall. Large format Phase Five Friezes are provided to build up a colourful classroom display. Each week, the new GPCs can be added to the display for children to practise. Large format versions of the Phase Five Grapheme Cards can be used at the front of class or with small groups of children. A set of Phase Five Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3 Word Cards are included for each new GPC introduced, as well as Tricky Word Cards for each term.
The Year 1 Classroom Kit includes: 15 full colour copies of the Phase Five Sound Mat; 92 full colour Phase Five Friezes; 47 phase Five Grapheme Cards; 614 phase Five Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3 Word Cards.
Resources used infrequently or only in specific activities can be found in the photocopiable resources sections of the Year 1 Teacher’s Handbook or in the digital Resource Packs. The Resource Packs can be downloaded from the Schofield & Sims website and provide all the resources needed for each week’s lessons in a handy format for printing or displaying on a whiteboard.
