These photocopiable English assessment activities focus on the assessment at Key Stage 2 of selected criteria from the text-level strand of the National Literacy Framework. The twelve stimulus texts have been selected to reflect the range of text types specified in the National Literacy Framework for Year 3 to Year 6. The activities cover work from levels 2 to 5, with each unit spanning two levels. Teachers can use the activities at any point that they feel is appropriate for an individual child, for a small group or for a whole class. This allows flexibility, which is important for effective, manageable assessment that can be incoporated into teaching and learning schemes. The activity sheets provide a record of attainment and can be annotated and used in the child's portfolio to inform best-fit judgements.
