Written with the intention of helping teachers and student-teachers with the long-term development of their GCSE courses and effective implementation of them with their students. The book also covers the four aspects of Home Economics (family, home, food and textiles) and includes group activites.
The aim of this book is to provide teachers and student-teachers with their own learning and personal development model for GCSE. It seeks to fill a gap in provision, leading on from, and complementing, in-service courses, higher education courses and other publications. It is not specifically concerned with the National Criteria and individual syllabuses, but instead seeks to help the reader with the long-term development of their GCSE courses and effective implementation of them with their students. It aims to present an open, flexible learning environment so that the reader can develop his/her own thinking and understanding. In addition, the book covers all four aspects of Home Economics (family, home, food and textiles). Activities are included throughout which can either be undertaken by individuals on their own or in groups with colleagues. It should assist teachers in their roles as curriculum developers, classroom teachers and course administrators.

"But why should I change?"; "so, what's the problem?"; getting to grips with the problem!; planning your course of action; getting the course off the ground; what resources do you need?; making sure of those interrelationships; "I'll give it five!"; getting the message across; "where do I go from here?".
