Carlo the giraffe likes reading anything and everything. He reads his bedroom, his breakfast - he even reads his dad! Everything in his colourful world has a label attached with its name on it. Children learning to read can point, say and read through the day with Carlo.
Carlo likes reading everywhere and everything. He reads his bedroom, his breakfast - he even reads his dad! That's because everything in his colourful world has a clear label attached with its name on it - slippers, Crackers the cat, fly, teapot, bin, grater and milk. Children learning to read can point, say and read through the day with Carlo, a sympathetic and likeable character. And if the reading gets frustrating, Carlo doesn't worry about it - he likes galloping too!

Jessica Spanyol achieved a distinction for her MA in Illustration at the Royal College of Art before going on to become a research fellow with both the Royal College of Art and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Since then she has worked with various artists, staging exhibitions and designing installations and set designs, and has won several awards and prizes for her work. Carlo Likes Reading is Jessica's first picture book for children, although she wrote the first draft with her mother when she was only six years old. She says, "Although I loved reading I found it difficult to read when in school. The books helped give me confidence." Jessica lives with her partner Richard and their baby son Milo in east London.
