The story in short: Annika, a young girl, is living in Rome in order to learn Italian. She shares a flat with her friend Francesca in Largo Argentina. This square is famous for the stabbing of the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar and also because of the many cats living there today. An old woman takes care of those little felines. One day Annika notices that the old lady is wearing an expensive ring. A few days later the body of the woman is recovered from the Tiber river. Annika does not believe it was an accident and begins to investigate. Alessandra Barabaschi is an art historian, an author, and an enthusiastic cosmopolitan. Since the day she was born in Parma (Italy), she is travelling around the world to get in touch with people, countries, and culture different from her own. She speaks several languages. In 2009 she has founded her own PR agency. At the end of 2010 her first book has been published: A work in four volumes in English dedicated to the magnificent violins of Antonio Stradivari. Moreover, her successful new series of crime novels and tourist guides to learn Italian has hit the market at the end of 2013.

Gli italiani hanno una vera passione25 per il caffé.

In quanti modi si beve il caffé in Italia?

In tantissimi!

Il caffé normale o “espresso” è il tipico caffé italiano servito al bar.

Il caffé lungo è un espresso con più acqua e più caffeina.

Il caffé americano è il tipico caffé “all’americana”, leggero26 e abbondante27, servito in una tazza grande.

Il caffé ristretto28 è un espresso ancora più concentrato29 e con meno acqua.

Il caffé decaffeinato è un caffé senza caffeina.

Il caffé corretto è un caffé con aggiunta di grappa30 o di altra bevanda alcolica.

Il caffé schiumato è un caffé cui si aggiunge un po’ di schiuma di latte31.

Il caffé macchiato caldo è un caffé cui si aggiunge un po’ di latte caldo.

Il caffé macchiato freddo è un caffé cui si aggiunge un po’ di latte freddo.

Il cappuccino si prepara in una tazza grande con caffé e latte montato a schiuma. Gli italiani lo bevono solo a colazione32.

Il caffellatte è fatto con caffé e latte (non montato a schiuma). Viene solitamente33 servito in un bicchiere di vetro.

Il latte macchiato si compone di latte, un po’ di caffé e un’aggiunta di schiuma di latte. Si serve in una tazza alta e lunga di vetro.

Il mocaccino è un cappuccino con la cioccolata e la schiuma di latte. Viene servito in una tazzina di vetro, per rendere visibili i tre strati34 di caffé, cioccolata e schiuma di latte.

Il marocchino somiglia ad un piccolo cappuccino. È preparato con caffé, panna liquida35 e cacao.

Il caffé shakerato o caffé freddo si prepara con caffé freddo e ghiaccio tritato36.

La crema di caffé fredda è una miscela cremosa e fredda a base di caffé, panna e ghiaccio. Ideale per l’estate37!
