"Story Readers" are a new religious education resource for teachers involved in teaching primary school children aged 7-11. They have been designed to assist specialists and non-specialists alike by providing various types of information, suggestions and child-centred material in the form of a teacher's book and a set of accompanying worksheets. The teachers book is divided into chapters, each of which centres around one story, which is intended to be read aloud to the class. Background information and extension work sections give further indication of how the story may be used across the curriculum. In addition to this there is an index of themes and a concept and skills chart to help teachers using these learning structures which are common in schools today. There are two worksheets supporting each story and both may be photocopied. The 1st repeats, in a simplified form, the story in the teacher's book while the 2nd is made up of a selection of tasks and activities.
