This title features diagnostic scoring templates for WRaPS. It is designed to assess children's developing word recognition and phonic skills from the age of five years. It is easily administered to a full class in a single period, and is scored using the templates.
WRaPS is designed to assess children's developing word recognition and phonic skills from the age of five years. It provides: a standardized word recognition age for each child, for chronological ages 5:0 to 8:0 years; a reliable profile of strengths and weaknesses in phonic skills that should complement teacher assessment; an objective measure of progress through eight stages of word reading at National Curriculum Levels 1 and 2; a diagnostic analysis of each of these stages; and practical suggestions for appropriate teaching follow-up and activities to improve word recognition and strengthen basic phonic skills. WRaPS is easily administered to a full class in a single period, and is quickly scored using the diagnostic scoring templates. The test format ensures that almost all children can identify some features of spoken words in printed form, and can complete the test without experiencing failure. WRaPs can be repeated at intervals to assess progress throughout Years 1-3, and in working with older pupils with reading difficulties. This title features the diagnostic scoring templates.
