This book is a bibliographic review correlating gender concepts with the negative experiences of various minority groups (children, women, homosexuals) in the field of sport. These experiences, the result of a complex historical process of heteronormativity, sexism and oppression, are still reflected today in the alienation of many from sporting activities, whether for leisure or professionally.
With a degree in Physical Education from the Federal University of Maranhão, she is currently a member of the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology of Skeletal Muscle. She became interested in the study of gender identity and its relationship with sport after deeply experiencing the challenge of being a Brazilian woman who loves football.
