China's Experience in Eco Cities and Green Transport uses case studies of 28 cities from China on its urban transportation construction. Using detailed field surveys and data retrieval, authoritative data is used to analyse the Chinese experience of ecological cities and green transportation development. Each chapter provides an overview of the city's unique characteristics, including its land use and urban layout, motorization and transportation infrastructure, public transit system, specialized transportation modes, development of slow traffic systems, ecological initiatives, urban culture and civility, as well as key highlights and lessons learned from the city's experience. The book helps readers to develop a deeper understanding of the huge changes that have occurred and are currently happening in China in the field of ecological cities and green transportation, and to think and explore the future development path of Chinese cities and transportation systems: paving the way for high-quality urban development in China. Importantly, the book discusses the implications of the Chinese experience for other countries
