Heroin is purer, cheaper, and more readily available than ever before. It can be smoked, snorted, or injected. These changes have made heroin a drug of choice for many who might not have considered using it in the past. This pamphlet is designed for heroin addicts in early recovery, outlining what to expect, how to handle cravings, and how to stay motivated.

Duncan has a B.A. in Counseling and is certified by the Institute for Chemical Dependency Professionals.

Lowell Duncan counseled patients at Hazelden in Center City, Minnesota for fourteen years. In 1991 he established Your Next Step, Hazelden's residential nicotine cessation program, and since then has helped hundreds of nicotine addicts overcome their addiction. In 1998, Duncan helped launch outpatient smoking cessation programs at several Hazelden sites. Duncan has a B.A. in counseling and is internationally certified by the Institute for Chemical Dependency Professionals.
